Intramural Basketball
BOYS & GIRLS | GRADES 1 – 8
Started in 2022, Intramural Basketball is an in-town basketball program that replaced what was previously called Rec Basketball that was run through the town of Natick’s Rec and Parks department. We have rebranded all of our in-town (non-travel) winter programs as Intramurals. This extends the Intramural program to include Grades 1-2, which was previously called Winter Hoopsters.
Overview
- The Intramural program is open to boys and girls currently in Grades 1-8.
- You can register for Intramurals and there are no tryouts for this program.
- You can register for Travel tryouts and decide to only play Intramural.
- Players who do not make a travel team will have the opportunity to register for Intramurals after travel teams are formed.
- While Intramural Basketball is run by NYB – this is not Travel Basketball.
- Intramural Basketball is also different from our fall and spring Hoopsters programs, which a skill clinics for players in Grades K-3.
- The Intramural program is meant to create a fun and engaging environment for kids to learn and develop their skills with a mix of practices and games.
- For Grades 3-8, each team will have one practice per week, Monday-Friday and one game per week on Saturdays.
- Practices will start the week after Thanksgiving and the first games will be in early December.
- Times and locations of games, the number of teams per age/gender group and practice schedules will be determined based on registration numbers.
- For Grades 1-2, players will be placed on a team and have a 30-minute practice followed by a 30-minute game each Saturday. Games and practices will be played on 8.5 ft hoops. There will be no weekday practices for Grades 1-2.
- We plan on providing more opportunities throughout the year for kids to gain additional exposure to basketball – for the latest on our Skill Clinics you can click here and you can also check out our Schedule here.
- Teams will be coached by parent volunteers, sign up to become a coach!

Fall Hoopsters is offered for our K-3 players starting October 19th. The Fall Hoopsters program is a series of fun and high-energy clinics designed to provide an introductory basketball experience for boys and girls in grades K-3. Hoopsters focuses on fundamental skill development (shooting, dribbling, passing) in a fun, non-competitive environment. The goal of the program is to get kids excited about basketball and expose them to basketball skills with drills and contests. We also introduce 3×3 games starting at the 2nd grade level. There are no set teams for Fall Hoopsters and all of the sessions are co-ed.
The program is held on Saturday afternoons, starting October 19th and ending on November 16th. The first four weeks are at Kennedy Middle School and the last session is at Wilson Middle School.
Kindergarten 1:10-2pm
First Grade: 2:10-3pm
Second Grade: 3:10-4pm
Third Grade: 4:10-5pm

We have some exciting news to share! Natick Travel Basketball has rebranded to Natick Youth Basketball!
With the addition of the Intramural program 3 years ago, our Board of Directors made the decision to rebrand ourselves as we now manage all youth basketball in Natick (intramurals and travel programs) from grades K-8. We felt this new name demonstrates our mission to serve all youth basketball players in Natick and not just the Natick travel teams. We hope you like the new logo and name and we look forward to continuing to serve the youth of Natick!

🏀🏆 What a season it has been for the Natick Travel Basketball 5C team! Our highlight video is up of our Metrowest Champions, defeating Arlington in an exciting final showdown! 🎉
Their journey to victory was nothing short of impressive:
Round 1: Natick dominated with a 46-13 win against Medway.
Round 2: They continued their winning streak, winning against Parkway with a score of 42-31.
Semi Finals: Natick showcased their skills once again, defeating Framingham 36-17 to secure their spot in the Championship.
Championship: In a thrilling finale, Natick took the win over Arlington with a final score of 43-31.
Congrats to the incredible players of the 5C Gatto Team for their outstanding performance throughout the season! 🙌 Coach Gatto, your leadership and guidance have truly been invaluable!!!

We are excited to once again offer our spring open gyms for all Boys and Girls in grades 4-8 (this is open to both Travel and IM players). These sessions will be held at Kennedy Middle School and each grade will have their own dedicated time where possible.
Sessions will start the week of March 11th and a separate registration will be required. Each session will cost $10 and registration will be limited.
